HDC Handbook
Example Files & Downloads
This section collects HDC files for replay and learning. For now, one reviewed sample game is available; more files can be added later.
The page is intentionally already part of the handbook so that it can grow later without changing the structure.
Sample game download
At the moment, one sample game is available. It shows a short HDC game with a checkmate motif and can be used to test loading and replay.

More sample games and rule files can be added later. For now, only this attached file is visibly linked.
What this section is for
Later, this section can include:
- example positions
- example games
- demo files for loading into the app
- annotated learning examples
- small rule examples for special moves
Which HDC files are especially useful
The HDC system makes several file types particularly valuable:
- positions for analysis
- games for replay
- rule examples for castling, en passant, and promotion
- coordinate and notation examples
- HDC-FEN examples for fixed game states
More files later
Additional example positions, special-rule files, and annotated learning examples can be added later.
Good first candidates later on
A strong first set would be:
- 1 simple beginner game
- 1 position just for practicing layer changes
- 1 castling example
- 1 en passant example
- 1 promotion example
- 1 Duke pressure example
Remember
Even when example files become useful later, the handbook itself remains the best starting point for understanding the basics of HDC.

Yes. One sample game with a checkmate motif is linked for download.
Which formats make the most sense?
Above all, saved positions and games that fit the HDC system.
Do I need this section right away to learn the game?
No. For the beginning, QuickStart, controls, pieces, and special rules are enough.
